What else could get a hundreds of years old man like Dornkirk excited? Along the way it would help if he knew every possible outcome of every event that directly affects him. Through proactive meddling, Zaibach can assure that their fate is sealed with a tunnel vision view of the future.
Dornkirk has a great plan that will ensure a brighter future for all of Gaea under his rule. He would not only rule the present and its people but all of the various future events revealed to him by his Absolute Fortune Machine. This collection of alchemy and clockwork orbits a huge crystal ball that can look into the different options and situations that fate presents. This machine has lifted the veil off fates darkened face. He has figured out how to bottle the essences of attraction, luck and fate and their cocktails.
The universe is held together by attractions. Humans are easily attracted to each other. Humans’ fate is war. Humans seek each other out to kill themselves. Dornkirk thinks that if he could change the fate he could build a brighter, if not completely utopian future. The fate that he chooses is the wrong one in that he decides to let everyone obtain the most cherished desire. That desire is still war.
Both Escaflowne and Hitomi are attracted to Dornkirk’s Absolute Fortune Machine. He even believes that they complete the machine to perfection. Hitomi and Escaflowne resist being assimilated into the Machine making it incomplete and unable to manipulate the future of Gaea and its people.
